When it comes to livable spaces in your home, the living room is the obvious first choice. You could watch TV, play some games, talk to guests, or even eat a meal there if you wanted. Even though people like to think of their bedrooms as livable spaces too, the number of things you can do in the space is typically quite limited. Other than starting the day or laying in bed, there’s not much else you can do in the standard bedroom.

While the bedroom is primarily a place to sleep, some want to use their bedrooms more often, especially if they put a lot of time into decorating it. If this sounds like something you want to explore, this brief guide about making your bedroom a more livable space is for you.

Tidy Things Up a Bit

The first step to making any room more livable is tidying up the space, and this is especially important for the bedroom. Messes all over the place can subconsciously discourage you from wanting to spend much time in this room, so cleaning those up should be a top priority.

If your room isn’t really that dirty, you could try decluttering instead. A space with too much stuff could lead to the same avoidance issue. Removing extra pieces of furniture and decorations that are only there to take up space could remedy this problem.

Open Up the Curtains

Since the bedroom is a sanctuary of sleep, most people like to close the curtains to keep out unwanted light at night. While there’s nothing wrong with that, you need to remember to open them back up in the morning. Dark rooms aren’t very inviting. If the sun is shining in, you’ll be much more likely to head into the bedroom to relax.

Get a Place To Sit

However, for some people, relaxing on a bed usually leads to an unwanted nap. Even a short nap can throw off your entire sleep schedule. You’ll need to put in a piece of furniture you can sit on to avoid spending time on your bed. While it might seem a bit unconventional, a recliner would be perfect for this kind of functionality, especially if you can angle it toward the bedroom’s TV.

If you don’t want to spend too much time in your bedroom but would still like a place to sit, look for bedside benches. There are many reasons to add a bench to the end of your bed, but having a nice place to sit down occasionally is perhaps the most pertinent one.

Put in a Small Desk

While relaxation should be the main goal of your bedroom, you need to be able to do other things in there as well. That’s why our final suggestion on how to turn your bedroom into a more livable space is to put in a small desk to work at.

If you work from home, having a dedicated office is usually the better option. However, a small desk in your bedroom will be perfect for those who like to have a place to check on bills or do some online shopping.

Farming is a labor-intensive process. Whether you’re looking to go into business or want to clear out a plot of land for personal gardening, a lot of work goes into creating your farm. Before starting, here’s a checklist of some of the essential tools you’ll need to start your small farm and how they can make the whole process go a lot more smoothly.

Tractor

Is it even really a farm if you don’t have a tractor? Tractors are one of the most valuable tools for your farm, no matter the size of land you have. Tractors come in many different shapes, sizes, and models to haul trailers and plow fields and can perform almost any necessary task with the proper attachment. One of the first tasks you may want to do when setting up your farm is using a tow behind mower to clear your plot of land.

Fencing

Proper fencing is an essential tool you need to start your small farm. Not only are fences a great way to keep your field organized, but they are beneficial for keeping your crops safer from wild animals and other potential hazards. There are many different types of fencing, and the kind you need may vary depending on your region. For example, if you live in an area known for heavy winds, you may want a solid fencing option, like tall composite fencing.

Proper Tool Kit

No matter what type of farm you run, it’s always a good idea to have a shed full of essential tools. Everything from shovels, saws, seed drills, hoes, sickles, and watering cans should be available. You may eventually invest in automated systems like sprinklers to help keep things running, but we always recommend having a few essential tools nearby. Remember to get yourself a sturdy pair of work gloves when using tools to protect your hands from painful blisters.

Are you in the market for a new SUV but can’t decide between brands? In truth, there are so many vehicles available today, each providing its own advantages and downsides. Luckily, two automobiles stand out among the rest—the Jeep Wrangler and Subaru Forester. Which is better? Read on to learn more.

The Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler is one of the most significant vehicles in American pop culture history. From its WWII fighting origin to making many movie and TV appearances, this Jeep is the ideal off-roader.

The removable doors and roof allow for an experience unlike any other, and the durable build means you can enjoy your Wrangler for years to come. Plus, Jeep releases an improved model each year that’s capable of putting out more power and better performance rates. Ultimately, it’s a fun vehicle that has features unmatched by its competition.

The Subaru Forester

Subaru wasn’t always a popular car brand, especially in the United States. However, the excellence of the Forester has given this manufacturer a positive, reliable reputation. The Forester is perhaps the most comfortable and versatile adventure vehicle on the market. It’s highly affordable and designed for both families and thrill-seekers.

Subarus are known for gas efficiency, and the Forester clocks in at an impressive 25-26/28-35 miles per gallon. Additionally, the car itself possesses extremely convenient and high-tech amenities designed to keep you safe and boost the overall driving experience.

Which is Better?

So, which is the best choice for you? Ultimately, the answer lies in your personal needs. Do you require a daily driver primarily for commuting but occasional off-roading? Then the Forester might be the better option. Its cost ranges from $25,395 to $35,495—compared to $33,595-$77,095 for the Wrangler—and you’re getting significantly more amenities and comfort factors.

However, the Jeep Wrangler is still a suitable vehicle for traditional road driving. The appeal of this vehicle over the Forester means sacrificing some comfort and practicality for the ultimate off-roading automobile, but if you want a ride that provides thrills, the Wrangler is a must.

A better understanding of the debate between the Jeep Wrangler vs. Subaru Forester and which is better can help you prepare for future purchases. Many American prefer larger SUVs, and both of these vehicles offer something unique for prospective buyers. Regardless of which one you select, each brand is sure to provide you with a car that is affordable and reliable.

A good night’s sleep will mean you will wake up refreshed and alert – ready for the day ahead! Most adults need 8 hours of sleep every night in order for them to perform at their best – but these will vary for each person – some people can function perfectly on less and some need more.

Below are some top tips on how you can sleep better:

After the stress and fun of the day’s activities, you may find it hard to ‘switch off.’ In this case you may find it useful to write down your worries, a list for tomorrow or try reading a book and taking a hot bath.

You will need to create a regular sleep routine, making sure you go to bed the same time every night. If you are going to bed at the same time every night, you will also want to wake up at the same time each morning. Ideally you don’t want an alarm clock to wake you up – your body should be able to do this if you’ve had enough sleep. However make sure you don’t go to bed too early otherwise you’ll be fidgeting all night before you finally doze off! This is going to be difficult to keep up for the weekends when you might be going out in town or want to stay up later to prolong the day but keeping a strict regular sleeping routine is going to help you sleep better and feel more alive the next day!

If you’re feeling sleepy on a particular day, take a nap as opposed to sleeping in for longer as this will not affect your body clock as much. But make sure you don’t nap too long – you don’t want to suffer from insomnia when it is bedtime. Also make sure your room is the right temperature for sleeping. The boilers in the house should be timed to go off before bed so the house is not too warm during the night.

After dinner you may find you become a bit drowsy but if you’re not ready for bed just yet – try and be a bit active – do the washing, fold clothes, call a friend, write a letter (novel I know!)

Don’t eat and then go straight to bed. You need to ensure your stomach isn’t too full just as it shouldn’t be too empty. Ideally you want to go to sleep at least three hours after dinner.

Avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol which can all have a detrimental impact on your sleep patterns. For example caffeine, which take stay in your body for up to 14 hours will actually increase the number of times that you wake up during the night, similar to nicotine but low doses acts more as a sedative. Alcohol initially can make you sleepy but after it is cleared from your system then while you’re sleeping it can disturb your sleep and cause sweating and headaches as well as deep dreaming.

To start getting a good nights sleep, make sure you give yourself one or two weeks to experiment with different times of going to bed and waking up. Try to sleep at the same time each night and don’t put your alarm on – let yourself wake up without one. By doing this you will find out what is the best sleep pattern for you and start to feel refreshed every morning you wake up (if you stick to a regular sleeping pattern).

As over 7 million people found out during the massive Southwest power outage of 2011, emergencies do happen—and they happen when least expected. The blackout— triggered in the afternoon of September 9th when a high voltage power line between Arizona and California was inadvertently tripped out of service—caused chaos and confusion in homes, office buildings, and freeways where traffic was brought to a standstill for hours. With restaurants and grocery stores experiencing large losses due to spoiled foods, and several residential areas forced to use only boiled or bottled water for several days after, the outage served as a valuable wake-up call for millions who were caught unprepared. What follows is a list of 5 critical emergency preparedness lessons learned in the 2011 blackout, in the hope that we’ll all be better prepared—not if, but when the next emergency occurs.

Keep a stash of cash on hand:

Not surprisingly, when power shut down on that hot summer afternoon, the hot commodity at local grocery stores was ice. While many stores stayed open as long as they could to accommodate customers and sell products destined to perish without refrigeration, the lack of power rendered cash registers, point of sale credit card machines, and on site ATM’s useless. As a result, those customers who were short on cash were unable to make needed purchases. The lesson here is that, along with storing emergency preparedness supplies, it’s wise to keep some cash on hand for making emergency purchases. Make sure that your cash stash is in small denominations due to the inability or unwillingness of merchants to make change for large bills during an emergency.

Keep an eye on the gas gauge:

As car after car ran out of gas on gridlocked freeways, stranded commuters learned a painful lesson: keep the gas tank at least half full at all times. As an added benefit, this practice is actually good for your car’s engine, as it can keep sludge from clogging fuel lines and reduce internal friction. In addition, letting a car’s engine idle for extended periods of time is another practice motorists should avoid. Although an idling engine may help drivers trapped in truly stopped traffic to sustain the hopeful notion that that will be moving again soon, the reality is that they’re only wasting the gas they will need to make it safely home. And speaking of home, having a car in the driveway with at least a half tank of gas will give you extra piece of mind, knowing that you have a dependable means of transportation should you need it.

Keep emergency lighting on hand:

If you’ve experienced a power outage while at home, you know that what seems to be a minor inconvenience can become a major concern after sundown—especially if you have a limited supply of alternative light sources on hand. From light sticks to flashlights to battery powered lanterns, there are many very effective products to illuminate your home during a blackout. The key is to make sure you have an adequate supply of fresh batteries to power them. Many lighting products come with hand crank generators, eliminating the need for batteries altogether.

Keep your cellphone charged:

The ability to reach and stay in contact with others during an emergency is critical, especially for those who may require medical attention. And cellphones played a major role in keeping the Big Southwest Blackout from having more serious consequences. Being that a cellphone only works when the battery is charged, the ability to maintain a charged phone during an emergency is critical. Along with routine charging, you should always keep a portable plug-in charger in your car. However, being that these charges are dependent on your car’s battery, a hand-crank phone charger is an even better way to go. These chargers can also be used to manually charge other techno-gadgets that could prove helpful during an emergency, such as web-enabled tablet computers.

Keep your cool:

The word “cool” conjures up images of water, and those who were prepared by making it a practice to keep bottled water in their cars fared much better during the blackout than those who didn’t. And stories of prepared people sharing water with others stranded on the freeways were not uncommon. Therein lies perhaps the biggest lesson of the Big Southwest Blackout. For example a car or a house. For a house we can get a mortgage as a rule and for a car we tend to find get a car loan or some form of car finance. These are tough economic times though and getting credit isn’t always as easy as it could be. Banks are reluctant to lend people money and so even if you know you can repay the money you still might find yourself struggling to get a loan.

If we take the example of car credit, there are several things you should consider before applying for credit. Do you want to get car finance through the dealership or would a personal car loan be more appropriate? There a great deal of money lenders who will lend you money to finance your car purchase but make sure you do your research before applying for credit with them.

Know your limits

First of all work out what you can afford each month and be realistic. There is no point in getting car finance only to find you can’t afford to repay it and end up losing the car. Don’t forget to take into account the unexpected expenses that can arise each month such as a vets bill or car repair.

Know your credit history

Secondly, make sure you know your credit history before you apply for car credit. You can get a copy of your credit score online and it will show you how much the banks think they can take a risk with you. A high credit score will give you access to the better car loan interest rates but a poor credit score will restrict what you will be offered, if anything. It will certainly mean you will pay a higher monthly repayment because the bank will feel you are more of a risk to lend to.

Decide for a car credit provider

Decide where you want to get the car credit from. You might apply to your high street bank for a car loan or the dealership where you buy your car from might be able to give you car finance as well as other incentives for buying a car from them. Some car finance packages require no deposit and offer 0% interest rates too. Always make sure you check out their APR vs. Flat Rate. These are two very different things and you could end up paying lots more for your car credit if you don’t do your sums correctly.

There are a lot of car finance packages available but make sure you shop around for the best deal and know your credit score before you buy.

Here are some great tips and advice which should help you when putting together your own business event. Although it can be a great idea to get an events agency for larger events, there are plenty of things you can do yourself even with a limited budget.

1: Work out your budget

How much do you have to spend and availiable to you. How is this budget split up. Make sure you know how much you can spend and where you can spend it. Even if this budget is flexible it is a good idea to always have a budget in mind whenever you are booking things or paying for them.

2: Work out a theme or a topic

Your entire event should have something that ties it together. This should be a theme or topic. Make sure your speakers know what this is. It is a good idea to make sure everything carries the same message so that your guests feel like the event meant something and that they learnt something.

3: Work out what will make it a success

What do you want people to do after your event. Do you want them to call up a number, buy a product, visit a website etc. Make sure you can track sucess. Track hits before, during and after the event to measure how successful the event has been.

4: Pick an appropriate venue

Make sure you pick an appropriate venue both in terms of size and style. Make sure your venue fits with your message and topic. Make sure it is large enough to hold all the staff and visitors and that if you have multiple people talking that they can all do their talks without drowning each other out.

5: Consider travel times

Can people travel from local hotels to your event in time. How good is the public transport and what time does it start and stop. Will people need to fly in, will you need to run a shuttle service etc. These are all worth looking into before you book an event venue.

These are all really simple things to considering when planning your event but should have a great impact on your overall event and how it goes.

Most guys don’t know how to attract girls’ attention correctly. If you want to get more attention from girls, you have to know some traits that will help you to naturally boost your attractiveness. Here are 7 traits that attract girls’ attention instantly and help you to become a girl magnet.

1. Be genuine
You have to remember that girls don’t like someone who is not authentic. In other words, don’t try to mimic someone else in attempt to get girls’ attention. It doesn’t work well and once you are caught, you’ll end up losing her. Therefore, a guy who is confident with himself and express his confident through calmness and authenticity can win a girl’s attention instantly. So, don’t try to be someone else. Be genuinely yourself.

2. Become self-centered
It doesn’t mean to become an egoistic person who doesn’t care with your surroundings at all. It means that you must enjoy yourself in any situation. In fact, don’t make it your goal to be a girl magnet. Don’t stare at any girl while in crowded place. It will represent neediness and girls will feel uneasy with you around. To become self-centered is to enjoy and have fun with yourself without worrying whether anyone likes it or not. If you can do it, girls will be attracted to you naturally.

3. Be humble
Don’t think that showing your wealth will help you attract girls’ attention. Girls don’t feel impressed with a boastful guy. Instead, be humble with yourself and never show off your wealth or achievement in front of a girl. Let her find it for herself and once she founds it she will feel impressed and attracted to you even more.

4. Be friendly
To attract any girl’s attention, you have to be friendly with her. It means that when you see a girl who gives more attention to you, you should approach her with friendly attitude and strike a conversation. You should be ready to approach any girl whenever you feel appropriate. Start a friendly conversation with her. It will easily attract her attention.

5. Intelligence and understanding
You will see that many things can make girls feel attracted to you. One of those things is intelligence followed by understanding. Girls really like intelligent man, at least someone who knows what to do in appropriate time. Someone who can think carefully about the steps he is going to take. Girls like someone who can decide properly and correctly to solve a problem. Additionally, girls will feel more attraction to a guy who can understand her feelings correctly.

6. Good look
It is not the most important part but it will add to your attractiveness. If you are good looking, you can at least create a good first impression. Girls like a guy who is hot and good looking. So, pay attention to your grooming and make sure to have the best appearance in every situation.

7. Good communication
Good communication can help you to attract girls’ attention. As you may know, girls don’t like someone who is boring and they don’t want to dominate the communication either. So, your communication skill will determine whether you will be liked or not by her. When communicating with a girl, you need to give her good eye contact. It shows your confidence and girls like it. When communicating, keep it comfortable and you can tell some jokes if you want to. It will make you even more attractive.

Those traits will help you to attract more attention from girls.

How long has it been since you sent or received a letter? Not an email, an honest to goodness letter complete with envelope and stamp? It has probably been a very long time and though we may wax nostalgic when it comes to the thought of wax seals and scented stationary, the fact is, we now live in a world of electronic communication where exchanges of information occur instantaneously.

In fact, thanks to the internet, not only can we communicate instantaneously; with individuals from the all over the world; we can also take care of almost every kind of transaction online as well. From renewing our driver’s licenses to ordering pizza and checking on store hours, the internet has become second nature to nearly everyone, which is why it should not come as a surprise that more brides are shifting towards the internet in order to plan their weddings.

From wedding dresses to limousine services and honeymoon travel packages, nearly everything you could possibly want or need for a wedding is available online. In fact, there are so many choices it is easy to get overwhelmed. In response to this trend, a whole new industry has infiltrated the market, that of online planning sites for weddings.

These sites are usually free of charge (most of them depend on advertising for their revenues) but they can serve as a much needed organizational tool for today’s busy bride. These sites allow for the bride (or the couple) to organize all the information they collect regarding their wedding. Many of them provide “to do” lists and calendars to make it easier to organize everything that needs to be done and allow for the bride and groom to bring all of their website planning together in one place. Many of these sites even include tips for saving money on your honeymoon or links to articles on wedding planning and blogs that will keep you up to date on the very latest news from the wedding front.

Of course these sites are not a bride’s only choice when it comes to online wedding planning. There are also wedding registry sites that serve as wedding planning sites and have tons of tools available for the bride to use when planning out what needs to be done before the big day.

Regardless of what sort of site you use to get yourself organized, the fact is that by doing your wedding planning on the internet, you can not only rest assured that your plans will not mysteriously “disappear” because you lost your notebook or because your computer crashed (an absolutely terrifying thought), but you can stay abreast of the very latest trends and sales and discounts so that you can make sure that not only is your wedding absolutely perfect from start to finish, but that you stay within your budget as well. Besides, it also gives you the option of looking busy at work when you’re really updating your wedding registry or checking out the availability of the DJ your fiancé really wants to have at your reception.

Time. Energy. Money. You can save it all by planning your wedding online, and that’s the realization that is behind the increase in brides who are taking advantage of all the wedding planning options that the internet has to offer.

Depending on what your task is whether you are on the job or you are just performing some chores around the house, you may find that after your done, your clothes is filled with grease. After you’re done, finding that you have grease on your clothes can be really frustrating. When you are cooking or performing other chores, grease may also spill around you onto the floor or onto furniture. There are a number of effective methods you can apply so you can get the grease out and have your clothes ready again. This article will provide the instructions on how to remove grease stains.

Required Tools

Liquid dish detergent

White vinegar

Garment

Paper towel

Corn starch or talcum powder

Instructions

Go to your local store or supermarket and purchase a detergent, if the detergent is colored then dilutee it with a bit of water to prevent further staining. Once you find that an area whether a piece of clothes or item has been stained with grease, the quicker you move at getting it out is the better your chance is of restoring it back into a clean piece of garment.

If you find that you are dealing with automotive grease or just very thick grease then you may need to use a knife to scrape off the excess grease. Then you can pour on a little of the detergent onto the soiled area and work it in with your hands until it begins to dissolve.

As soon as the grease begins to dissolve more, rinse the area with white vinegar, the white vinegar will be responsible for removing the detergent.

If you find that the fabric that you are working on is giving a hard time to eliminate the stains then you can repeat steps one to three until all or most of the grease comes out. This method of grease removal can also work on clothes that have already been washed.

Another method for eliminating grease is to apply an absorbent agent such as cornstarch or talcum powder onto the grease affected spot.

Put the part of the fabric that has the grease facedown onto a paper towel then use a dry cleaning solvent to blot the back of the stain and then continue replacing the paper towels as it begins to soak up more grease.

Then spray the garment with laundry pretreatment and wash it with very hot water and then allow it to air dry. When it is dry it should be nice and clean.

Tips & Warnings

Whenever you are purchasing liquid detergents, look for the brands that are water based and non toxic because these work better with most fabrics and do less damage to it.

Detergents that have really strong colors will lightly stain colored clothing so ensure that you search for colorless detergents or if you do buy color detergents, it is diluted with water.

If you search around your local stores, there are also other commercially made products being sold that are made specifically for getting out grease from clothes that are also very effective.

WD-40 can be used on most items to get rid of grease with the exception of fabrics to eliminate grease.

Unfortunately, this means it’s also time to rack your brains and come up with a gift! A proper one, of course, that isn’t cheap, tacky, or too cheesy.

Buying gifts would be so much easier if you could let the recipient just go ahead and choose it. But part of the fun in Christmas’ gift giving tradition is the surprise that comes with it. For most people, this means you’ll actually have to take time and think about what you’re going to give. No generic “scented candles or picture frames” here, unless you want to spend New Year’s Eve as a single man.

No, the key to gift-giving isn’t the gift itself, but the effort you put in. Recipients know whether or not the gift they received is sincere. As trite as the cliché may be, it’s true that “it’s the thought that counts”.

For the people out there who still have no idea what to get your girlfriend, here are a few reminders and guidelines that should help you out:

1. Be practical. What are things that she can use often? If she’s a runner, get her a pedometer. If she likes to cook, get her additional cookware sets or even that hard-to-find cookbook written by a celebrity chef. The point is that you should take into consideration her lifestyle, her hobbies, and her personality when choosing a gift. As pretty as decorative items may be, they’re not always the best gifts, and could even be misconstrued as an attempt at generic gift giving.

2. Avoid generic gifts. Stuffed toys are the worst, followed by scented candles. Unless your girlfriend actually collects stuffed animals and scented candles, giving these generic gifts might communicate the message that you can’t be bothered to take time and think about what to get her.

3. Don’t give cash. Yes, it’s easier than actually having to think of something, but it’s also tacky and lazy. If you really must, get her gift cards for her favorite bookstore or clothing shop.

4. It’s not always about the price tag. In fact, it would be insulting to assume that expensive gifts are the be all and end all of relationship gift giving. Simple gestures can be even more touching, as long as they are genuine and heartfelt. Contrary to what media often depicts, a personalized card would actually be a welcome gift for your girlfriend. Just make sure that your personalized card actually contains your sincere message, and not just a trite “happy holidays”. Plus, personalizing a Christmas greeting card means you’ve put more effort and time into it.

5. Jewelry can be misunderstood. It’s a given that most women might assign meaning to your decision to give expensive gifts, especially jewelry. If you’re not ready, don’t buy her a pair of diamond earrings unless you want to send the wrong signals.

Unfortunately, these struggles often dovetail. I recently faced the double whammy of going through divorce and having to move with two young children.

“Kids pick up on stress, so the attitude you project about moving will affect your children’s feelings,” child psychologist Kate Gorman advised me. Never mind that we were moving from Manhattan into my mother’s basement. I had to look on the bright side. “You’ll sleep in my childhood bedroom,” I told my five-year-old son Sawyer. “You’ll dream where I used to dream.”

Dr. Gorman suggested putting Sawyer in charge of a cardboard box so he could pack some toys. He broke out his markers, labeled the box “Legos,” then flew Star Wars ships inside it. It gave him a sense of control; he knew where to find his prized creations.

I scheduled play dates with my son’s friends to make sure he could say goodbye. I thought he’d cry, but instead he waved, “I’ll Skype you.” I cried, but not until later, after he went to sleep.

Right before the move, I worried that my 20-months-old baby girl might experience anxiety from the change in her surroundings. “Young children feel secure as long as you maintain their routine,” my pediatrician said. I kept my daughter’s stuffed piggy with her when the movers came. Then I made up her crib at grandma’s house with the same soft animals she slept with in New York.

I chose a chapter book to read to my son during the week of the move. We made it through one tale from Three Tales of My Father’s Dragon in our old apartment, which meant we had two more to go at grandma’s house. Continuing the same book in the new place helped provide continuity.

I did my best not to micromanage the process of unpacking. I asked Sawyer’s opinion about where his things should go. He turned moving into an opportunity to rearrange his toys to make all of them accessible. And it was surprisingly effective. He rediscovered goodies he’d forgotten about, like the bin of rubber sea creatures we unearthed from the depths of his former closet.

Dr. Gorman warned that children go through an adjustment period. Sawyer immediately established what he called a base in the corner of his new room. He wouldn’t let me dismantle his hodgepodge project, a kind of E.T. phones home contraption, the tinker toys arranged like some radio signaler. “It’s a good coping skill,” Dr. Gorman assured me. “He’s creating a safe place.” That’s what I want my kids to feel — the comfort of home.

Pari Chang writes about child safety for the Law Offices of Daniel R. Rosen. Pari’s articles have been published in Glamour, Redbook, and many other major magazines and news outlets.

Beds are needed in every home. Thus one needs to be aware about all the aspects of a comfortable bed so as to buy a good one. In this post, I will give some simple tips on buying a comfortable bed. These tips include how to buy perfect size bed, how to buy an economical bed and which materials to choose in beds. If you follow these simple tips, you can be sure that every time you occupy your bed you will get a sound sleep.

Size of the bed

The size of the bed is most important thing to look after while buying a bed. If you have spacious room then you can purchase a bed big in size, However I will suggest you go to for medium size beds as they are easier to move in case of transfer. Moreover these beds can be used in rooms of any sizes and provide a lot of free space too. Again, the size of beds also depends on for whom it is being purchased, For instance, if you are buying a bed for kids then there is no point in buying a large size bed. Similarly, if you looking for a bed for two adults, king size beds should be your first choice. Finally, if you are buying a bed online you should be very careful with the size as you cannot see the actual item. Always check the size carefully before buying so that the correct size is delivered at your home.

Cost of the bed

Another important thing to look after is the cost of the bed. Though, it is nice to look for good value for money but I would strongly suggest avoiding cheap and low quality beds. Since it is one time investment do not hesitate to pay for quality. This will ensure that the bed will remain with you for long time. However, to get good deals you may look for online stores. These online stores offer exclusive deals on beds and thus you can grab a deal at an economical price. Again, also carefully study the hidden terms and conditions like shipping and packaging charges. As the competition has increased so much among the wholesalers most of them offer free shipping.

Materials used in the Bed

You also need to carefully examine the material used in the construction of the bed. If you do not have much idea about the materials used, you can ask for help from an experienced relative or friend. The wood that is always in demand is the traditional wood. Again, leather beds and metal frames are also gaining a lot of popularity these days. Among the various types of leather available sleigh leather beds are preferred as they are cheap and look stylish. Make sure that the manufactures use the wood selected by you and not any substitute or alternative. Regarding the material, not only the final appearance is to be considered but also the durability and strength needs to be looked after. If you are buying a bed from a reputed store then you can be confident of the quality of the material used.

Final Appearance of the Bed

No doubt, final appearance of the bed also affects the choice and selection of most of the buyers. However, this aspect does not require too much consideration. Just pick up the design that appeals to your eyes. Most of the stores have books containing various designs and shapes, so that you can easily choose your favorite. Proper selection of frames is also very important if you want your bed to look stylish. These days metal frames are in great demand as they give an elegant look.

Comfort provided by the bed

The last and the most important thing to look in a bed is the comfort. Neglecting this aspect can result in health hazards like back problem. You certainly do not want a bed where you have to struggle every night in order to get a sound sleep.

I hope the above tips will help you to buy a good and comfortable bed.

However, this has generally been a frustrating experience for most users. There is not a great deal of reliability when it comes to the mp3 files found with such software. Not only are many of these files corrupted or otherwise unusable, computer viruses are rampant in such networks. Increasingly, computer users have come up with a rather unique solution to this quandary: YouTube. As one of the most popular social media websites today, users have uploaded millions of music videos on the site. This is a huge library of music files just waiting to be downloaded. Thanks to the nature of the site, files can be heard before they are downloaded so that you can ensure its quality. Furthermore, the risk of viruses is basically non-existent. However, YouTube wasn’t designed to be a music downloading service. Therefore, you must go through a few extra hoops in order to acquire the music. Thankfully, it is still very easy to obtain an almost unlimited number of songs for your own personal library. All you have to do is follow the following steps.

Getting mp3 Files from YouTube

First, you must find a YouTube to mp3 converter. There are many different ones from which to choose. In addition to several software programs that can be downloaded, there are also many websites that act as a YouTube to mp3 converter. If you want, you can try several of them in order to see which service you like best.

Once you have a converter, you need to find the file on YouTube. To do this, just go to YouTube and type in the name of the song you want to download. Usually, you will have many pages from which to choose. Try different files until you hear a recording that you like. Once you are on the right page, make sure you copy the URL and then move on to the next step.

Now all you need to do is paste the URL into the converter, and the program will take care of the rest. Once the program is done, you should have a perfectly valid mp3 file that you can use on your computer or music device.

Of course, there will be some idiosyncrasies with specific converters, but they all follow the same basic idea. Once you have the hang of it, you will be able to build a great music collection for free.

The festive season can be an expensive time what with all the food, the drink, the present buying, the parties and the new outfits, so most people look to make savings wherever they can. Whilst you don’t want to be the Scrooge character come Christmas day, or the cheapskate who bought all their presents from Poundland, there are a few sensible things you can to make sure you are saving money on your Christmas shopping. Here are some ideas:

Wait until the last minute

If you’re reading this now then – intentionally or not – you have pretty much left it until the last minute so this particularly applies to you. Right now is the time when most shops and online stores are trying to shift the stock that they had earmarked to be sold at Christmas. Anything that hasn’t sold by the last week before Christmas is likely to get marked down to avoid too much ending up in the Boxing Day sales. Big retailers like Whistles, French Connection and luxury beauty store Space NK start their sales at the beginning of the last week before Christmas and you can pick up some fantastic bargains on presents and take the credit for the full price gift.

…or do it all in advance

Is it cheap or thrifty to buy your gifts for next year in the post Christmas sales? Whilst you don’t have to be this extreme, there is a lot to be said for getting organized when it comes to Christmas shopping. If you have already bought and wrapped everything by December 1st there is much less chance that you will end up shelling out £50 on a pair of musical cashmere socks for your dad out of sheer desperation than if you are madly rushing around the shops on Christmas Eve. If you are really prepared then take advantage of the summer sales to pick up discount presents.

Shop online

Websites are often the places where you will find the best bargains at any time of year and in the run up to Christmas this is doubly so. Watch out for offers like 2 for 1, discounts on Christmas-specific gifts and products, and pre-Christmas sales, as the bargains you will find online are often much better than those in the shops. Shopping online also means you can shop around and get a better idea of where the cheapest bargains are. In order to entice customers into avoiding physically going to the shops online retailers will also often offer free delivery, in some cases even free express delivery so that you have the added advantage of avoiding the panicked Christmas shopping crowds. Just make sure you order in time…

Buy in bulk

Retailers just want to shift their stock in the run up to Christmas and as a result the number of 2 for 1, buy 1 get 1 free, 3 for 2 and buy 1 get 1 half price type offers goes through the roof. If you can pick up gifts for mum, sister and Gran, whilst only paying for two then you’ve saved yourself enough to get that Christmas gift for yourself! If you opt for somewhere like Boots, or one of the big department stores, then you can avoid having to buy everyone something suspiciously similar and then no one will ever know that one of the gifts was free.

Do it yourself

Although your friends and relatives may not be particularly impressed to receive a gift that looks like it has been made by a 4 year old, if you do have a talent for something then this is the time to harness it. Knitted items can go down well (as long as you stay away from the salmon pink wool), edibles such as truffles or gingerbread are always a winner and if you have any talent with a paintbrush then thoughtful, framed pictures and portraits are a lovely personal gift.

Although many people do tend to break the bank at Christmas, it doesn’t have to be a time of over-the-top spending – and in fact can be much more enjoyable if you’re not dreading that credit card bill at the end of the month. Employing some tactics – like those above – to make sure you are saving money on your Christmas shopping doesn’t make you cheap, it makes you smart. And if you get it right then no one will ever know where the savings were made!

Because we hear so many scary stories these days, you may feel like it’s easier to simply forego the entire process of finding a babysitter for your kids than it is to find a sitter that you trust. The benefits outweigh the risks, in my mind though and I speak as a parent that is still very concerned about safety.

I’ll never forget, with my second baby, I was completely overwhelmed by his colic and constant screaming. I didn’t think I could experience any relief though- I guess secretly I wondered, “Who in the world is going to want to take care of this difficult baby?”

It all changed when I was at the chiropractor, a friendly doctor in the neighborhood, and one of the secretary staff took one look at my baby’s blue eyes and said, “Oooh, I would just love to hold your baby and take care of him!” I thought, “Really?” She actually gave me her number saying that she absolutely loved newborns and I took it down thinking- “Yeah right, whatever, NEVER gonna happen.”

But, one day, when my sanity had pretty much thinned out, I actually called her. Let’s name her Ann.

We spoke over the phone and she had so much confidence in how she spoke about babies I was immediately attracted to her style. She was a single woman in her 30s with a full-time job for the government (yay for security clearances!) and just enjoyed babies and had some free time in the evenings and on weekends.

She came to my home early one night so I could meet her and see how she handled my kids. She was firm but loving. I knew she had a background check and security clearance. She gave the kids a bath and even offered to make dinner. We laughed about my bad cooking skills. She talked about her other steady babysitting jobs.

I felt an instant rapport with her-I liked her firmness with my children, I knew they wouldn’t “get away” with half the stuff with her that they got away with, with me!

And so began our long 7 year + relationship. I’ve had more babies since then and she’s done wonderfully with them. I’ve never felt the need to get a nanny cam/video baby monitor or question her handling of the kids. We’ve become wonderful friends and from time to time go to lunch.

I do have other teenagers that I can call on when Ann is not available (she does charge more money than a teen and has a 3 hour minimum) but I mostly use them when I know all the kids are in bed and that they won’t really need too much if they wake up for a moment.

When you’re searching for a babysitter and figuring out what contributes to finding a safe one, realize that I shared with you the story of how I found Ann, for a reason. There were many preliminary factors that led to my choosing to hire Ann. Here’s what I mean:

– I found her at a location that was familiar to me, the chiropractor’s office. I could see her professionalism quite clearly and could “watch” her in another setting besides my home, leaving me a way “out” if I needed one.

– She loved babies and asked ME if she could hold my baby, clearly exhibiting her love for babies.

– She had many other references of families whose children she watched, so I had plenty of references to call if I needed.

– She asked me about dinner and bathing, and even brought over activities the kids would love, so it was clear to me that she was interested in their activities and other needs-I knew she wouldn’t just plunk them in front of the TV.
– When I came home, she gave me a full report of how the kids were, even down to the nitty gritty details so I felt I really knew how the evening went

– Her firmness with the children, even when there were multiple babies crying, made me feel that she would be always in control over every situation. She seemed un-fazed by “drama” and so I didn’t worry that they wouldn’t listen or that there wouldn’t be a situation that she wouldn’t be able to handle. She was always calm and comfortable with the kids.

– Her 3 hour minimum policy “forced” me to really plan my outings in advance-no last minute frantic trips – which led to both of us being fully prepared to handle our responsibilities. Thinking about how you AND the sitter can come to the table in your “best” form will really ensure that the evening is a success.

I hope that you can glean some tips on how to hire a safe babysitter for yourself and your family from my own story, beyond the obvious (like showing the sitter where all the safety tools are like flashlights and batteries, medicines, and doctor phone numbers). I guess the most important thing is that you trust your instincts. A mother’s instincts are stronger than you may think!

This post is for entertainment purposes only. Please do not attempt any of the following yourself as it could result in serious injury or death.

It took four years and a heck of a lot of iron but John Ivers from Indiana managed to build his own working rollercoaster in his backyard called Blue Flash. It is 180 feet long and 20 feet high and, as you can see on the video has a scarily fast corkscrew turn!

This 100 yard waterslide is made from plastic sheeting and works like a dream. The slide ends up in a lake and is the perfect way to cool down in the summer, however, probably not too good when combined with beer.

You’d have to have nerves of steel to attempt a stunt like this. This man and his mates have decided to cure their boredom by hanging off the end of a digger! The start of the video is scary enough but as the speed gets up this guy is hanging on for dear life! Definitely not big and not clever!

Snow, a set of steps and a box and your good to go! This guy was in for a bumpy ride when he decided to ‘sleigh’ down a set of steps, however it all ended well and he walked away unscathed.

Well, it doesn’t get better than this in the world of aquatic rides and these three are obviously very proud of themselves. Their ride took ten days to make and approximately two seconds to try out! Their families must have been very laid back to let this go on in the back garden…

Jeremy Reid from Oklahoma decided after taking engineering courses at college that he could probably make his own rollercoaster. By the time he had finished, his parents backyard was home to a huge southern yellow pine rollercoaster. Jeremy reckons the contraption cost him over $10,000 but helped him land his dream job at a roller coaster design company.

Six years ago fourteen year old David Mossman from Germany took it upon himself to build a wooden rollercoaster in his aunt’s garden. However it became so big it attracted the attention of the local authorities, who asked him to take it down or risk a fine. There has been no word since but David will now be a strapping twenty year old with a few more designs up his sleeve no doubt.

Another giant water slide, 60 metres in fact, however this ones a bit of a gamble to whether you actually land in water or not. There is a small paddling pool at the end of the slide and if you don’t end up in it you’ll be bouncing along the grass. Ouch! To top it off all of this was done while the parents were away for the weekend

You can’t get more Jackass than this. It’s amazing what you can do with a huge piece of rope, one willing individual and a drive-on lawnmower.

Blue Flash creator John Ivers has gone a bit more sophisticated and this is his sequel, aptly named Blue Too. The ride has a fully functioning steel train and goes super super fast.

Times are tough, and trying to still have fun family time without emptying your wallet can be even harder. It would be nice to just whisk away in the car with family in tow, and go hit the movies, get some popcorn, and have a good evening. However, a family of four will spend well over $100 for this one night. If you throw in going out for dinner and possibly dessert after the movie, you could have racked up somewhere around $250 for your night. So, how do you still have fun, but keep it financially logical? Here are some helpful hints that may help you save, and still allow you to have that great time with your family.

1. A New Kind of Movie Night
Look for local clubs and children’s youth groups that run movie nights monthly or bi-weekly. Most of these clubs run newer movies and are usually free. This setting is usually outside. So grab a blanket, pop some popcorn at home, and cuddle up together for a movie. If your kids HAVE to see the latest movie, see if they can hold off a few weeks after the movie comes out. Then, hit the matinee viewing during the day. This saves you half the money you would usually spend if you had gone to a later movie, or when it first came out.
If you can really hold out for that must see movie, renting a DVD from your local movie rental place, can save you a bundle on gas, and price per head. This way you can be in the comfort of your own home, and still get to see what everyone has been talking about.

2. Eat In
If you love grabbing those pizzas on Friday nights, or getting a seat at your favorite restaurant, you may be pushing your budget to its limits. A way to save is to look for coupons and deals. See if one of your local pizza places are having any specials, or buy a take-home-and-bake pizza. This can save you up at least $10! You could even get creative and make a pizza yourself. With so many recipes online, finding a great one for you should not be that hard. Doing this can save your more then half of what you would usually spend. Try to limit eating at your favorite restaurant to once a month, instead of every week. Or, you could look for other restaurants in your area that offer the same kinds of foods you like, but at a lower price. Trying a new place may give you a new favorite restaurant and not hurt your wallet.

3. Kids vs Electronics
Kids nowadays must have their computers, games, and phones to even survive. I am sure you have one of your kids clamoring at you for that new game coming out. How do you still get them what they want, but save money doing it? Game-stop is a great place to start. Trading in their old games for newer ones is the best way to go. They give you in-store credit and allow you to use it toward any item in the store. Another way is to check online auction sites. Sometimes you can get a great deal on the latest technology, and only have to spend up to half or 3/4 of what you would pay for brand new.
