Happy New Year, now…
back to work! What to Wear to Work in 2016!

Honey, getting the job was only half the battle. Now, not only do you need to show up and do your job but you also need to show up looking workplace-worthy. This can mean a hefty investment towards a new wardrobe, hours of shopping and endless questioning of “does this work for work?” “Is this appropriate?” “Does this suit go together?” “Are those obnoxious print pants appropriate for work?”
Depending on how long it’s been since you were in an office setting, it could be a difficult process. Sheer see-through blouses are everywhere and what’s best, a skinny pant, or wide leg? Well don’t worry, we have put together some looks to get you through the 2016 work year in style!
My favorites from the Spring and Summer 2016 runway shows have shown some staple outfits that leave the question of what to wear to work in 2016 in the dust!

What to Wear to Work

I only have one word for you Céline. The Céline Spring Summer 2016 collection has a professional section like no other. It’s everything you need and more. From Jackets, dress suits, to work-ready dresses in a variety of “now” trends. There is really something for everyone and all body types. The 2016 Céline Spring ready to wear collection is full of shape in new modern ways that bend traditional pantsuits to conform to new ways of the runway where there is plenty of room to breathe at the moment. ~The clothes are very roomy.
The designer spoke about this collection backstage, “I liked the idea of clothes that you could pack up and go somewhere with, a bit like this tent – you can pack it up and go, I was thinking about clothes out of context, taking these pieces out of an urban life and putting your feet in the sand. I find that so charming and touching; moving clothes away from that environment, I get a lot of satisfaction imagining these clothes in nature.”

Check out Céline on the their official website and photos from the latest runway show here.

The Wild West took over the runway in a big way in recent months and stores all over the country are picking up on the trend. From suede to fringe, cowboy inspired accents are in for spring and here are a few ways to incorporate them into your wardrobe without looking like you are headed for a day on the farm.

Cowboy boots

Cowboy boots are a perennial classic and can be worn with virtually any outfit. Check your local thrift stores for the real deal or look for your favorite designer’s takes on the trend. Cowboy boots look great with skinny jeans and a t-shirt or throw them on with a flirty dress for an edgy take on a night on the town.

Suede

Suede is back in a big way and can be worked into any wardrobe. Feeling brave? Look for high wasted suede shorts; they look perfect paired with leggings and boots for the winter and with pointy toed flats come spring. For a more subtle take on the trend look for suede accessories like purses, boots and jackets.

Fringe

Fun and flirty fringe is right on trend this coming spring. Look for shirts or purses with fringe accents or go big with a fringe layered mini skirt.

Bolo ties

Believe it or not bolo ties are back in and getting a makeover. Designers are giving the accessory a modern update with cool geometric shapes and bold colors. Pair with a simple blouse or tank top, pairing these with western inspired shirts will look over done.

Ponchos

Warm and practical, the poncho is a great addition to a winter wardrobe. For a subtle approach choose a solid color. If you want to make a statement, look for Navajo inspired prints in red, yellow and blue.

Turquoise Jewelry

Lots of designers are turning out cuffs, earing and necklaces with turquoise stones. They add a great splash of color to an otherwise plain outfit and are as appropriate for a day at the office as they are a night out. Check your local thrift stores and antique shops for vintage pieces if you don’t want to pay designer prices.

Chambray Shirts

The perfect weekend wear, chambray shirts are another classic that will never go out of style. They can be worn in any season and to nearly any occasion and they’re comfortable making them one of the easiest pieces to try in the western trend.

Cowboy hats

You might not want to roll up in the office in a ten gallon hat but many designers, including Jessica Simpson, are turning out feminine designs based on the cowboy classic. Look for hats in classic materials like wool and angora but with a western twist.

Leather Belts

Another great item for the thrift store hunter, leather belts with western details are hot this season. Look for belts with oversized buckles, imprinted designs or turquoise accents to add just a little country to a classic pair of jeans or wear with a long skirt and tucked in blouse.

The shorts and bathing suits are safely packed away for the coming winter months freeing up some space in the closet for some new winter wear. Wondering what to go shopping for? Here are just a few of the season’s hottest fashion trends.

Geometric Prints

Bold geometric prints are showing up all over the runway this season, from pants to pumps these patterns are both retro and modern all rolled into one making them a fun addition to any wardrobe. For those timid about wearing bold patterns try subtle geometric detailing on a pair of shoes or a purse. For those wanting to take the look even further try a geometric print dress with an accentuated waste for a look that works as well in the office as it does for a night out on the town.

Leather Pants

For better or worse leather pants are in again and hotter than ever. Worried about looking like a stuffed sausage or a Jim Morrison impersonator? Give the look a modern twist by opting for big and baggy pants. A high wasted, loose fitting pair with a short jacket or fitted top will keep the look fresh and flattering.

60’s Psychedelic

This winter’s fashion trends are not for the faint of heart, it is all about bold statement pieces and bright colors and the 60’s psychedelic trend in no exception. From Miu Miu to Marc Jacobs psychedelic pant suits were all over the runway but you can tone this look down by just picking one accent piece like a belt or purse.

Cowboy Classics

The trick to the cowboy trend is making sure that you don’t look like your headed to a costume party. Don’t overdo it. A denim shirt, a little western trim, or a pair of cowboy boots is all you need to on trend just don’t try to wear them all at once.

Sunglasses have been the symbol of cool for decades now, popularized by lands of sun and fun like California and Florida. But you should keep in mind that anyone can just slap on a pair of shades and try to look cool; succeeding in looking that way requires a bit of thought to the style and to the way you look.

The first thing you need to do is look at the shape of your face and find what will suit you. If you have a narrow face, particularly one with high cheekbones and an aquiline nose then smaller shades with sharper edges would suit you perfectly. Sunglasses that barely cover your eyes emphasize the rest of your face while still protecting your eyes from the sun. On the other hand if you have a rounder face then you might want to have broader sunglasses, such as aviators which were made popular by pilots and motorcycle cops, which will allow you to maintain an overall shape to your face and make your glasses seem like they fit the rest of you. Determining your face shape is an important intial step in choosing sunglasses, narrowing down the frame shapes that you are looking for.

Once you have the shape and style of sunglasses picked out that suit your face, you need to keep in mind the style of fashion you’ll be wearing these glasses with. For instance, mirrored aviators might look fine if you’re going for a casual look with jeans and work boots, but if you’re going to be wearing a business suit they might jar your appearance and strike a really sour note. So if you’re going to make your sunglasses a regular part of your wardrobe either you need to get a pair that will work with anything you wear, which means they’ll likely be fairly plain to fit into any context, or you’ll need to buy several different pairs of sunglasses in order to ensure that you have something to fit any occasion or style. Once you’ve got your sunglasses though you also need to take care of them; be sure that you have a polishing cloth on hand to keep them clean and if possible get a hard top case so that when you put them away your sunglasses don’t break.

Following these simple tips will make you a sunglass expert in no time. You will be able to pick out a pair of sunglasses in half the time it takes your friends because you will know what shape looks best on your face and what lens to look for. So don’t waste any time, go try these tips out yourself!

The holidays mark a time when we give thanks. The holiday season is also the time of year when many men decide to propose.

If you’re one of these men, congratulations! You’ll be embarking on a very exciting time in your life. Engagements represent an important commitment in any relationship, signifying that you have decided to establish a lifelong partnership with another human being.

For this reason, it is important to take the time to consider all the options when it comes to engagement rings. Knowing what your sweetheart’s jewelry taste is must be a priority — perhaps you’ve discussed engagement and marriage in the past, and hopefully you took mental notes. But in case you didn’t, some of the other basic considerations are:

• Diamonds or other precious gems — While diamonds are the traditional stone of choice, some women prefer alternative gems such as rubies, sapphires or even pearls.

• Style — This one is tricky, but you are going to want to know what style she likes, such as a solitaire, vintage, antique or modern. Of course, you might not get exactly what she has had in mind, but having an idea will most closely guarantee that she loves your selection.

• Metal — Does she like yellow gold, white gold, red/ruby gold, palladium or platinum? Having the right metal setting is important because it holds that center stone in place and showcases the style of the ring.

• For those choosing a diamond, consider the color — A rather new consideration is the color of stone you choose. Traditionally, diamond engagement rings needed to always be clear and of the highest purity men could afford. Well, times have changed. Not only is purity a consideration these days, but color is, as well. Diamonds in colors other than clear/white have been growing in popularity, with colors ranging from pink to yellow to black. Interestingly, one of the most successful colored diamond engagement rings recently has been the brown diamond engagement ring. Brown diamonds are exactly what the name implies, with deep brown hues ranging from milk to dark brown.

So if your special lady is a brown lover, maybe a beautiful brown diamond engagement ring is the perfect choice, showing that you are deeply in tune with her tastes and desires.

Fashion is one of Ashley’s favorite topics to write about.
If you have trouble answering this question, you’re not alone. Many women struggle when it comes to figuring out what kind of engagement ring best symbolizes their lasting love, which is why their answers tend to fall into two camps. Some women will eschew the “gold digger” label by claiming that they would be happy to receive a ring from a Cracker Jack box just as long as their spouses-to-be love them, while others believe that a ring with lots of bling represents how much they are appreciated.

Hard Times Paint a Realistic Picture

Most women, however, fall somewhere in the middle when given some time to really think about the question. For one thing, the economy is not exactly in great shape these days, which is why many young couples are having trouble finding a place of their own to live, let alone figuring out how much to spend on their weddings. While not everyone is currently experiencing a financial crisis, the “standard” budget for a diamond engagement ring is three months’ salary, which is a pretty significant debt to incur before entering into a lifelong commitment.

Still, You’ve Got To Do Better Than That…

Still, the diamond remains king when it comes to the most talked about jewelry, particularly in America where celebrities are always showing off their fabulous bling in public. Thankfully, the vast majority of women don’t expect someone to shell out a million dollars for an engagement, ring, but many do love to own one of value, especially since their family and friends are going to talk about it. A Cracker Jack prize, then, is probably not going to cut it either.

Her Taste Matters

Fortunately, much of what makes an engagement ring valuable is the time and effort spent to acquire it. Many women greatly appreciate men who thoughtfully consider their tastes before making a purchase, which is why wedding advice columnists urge husbands-to-be to first examine what kinds of jewelry their women wear. Friends and relatives can also provide assistance, though sometimes the best option is for the couple to pick out rings together.

If You Can Afford It…

Many women also value men who are financially savvy, which is why finding a great deal on a diamond ring is not necessarily a “cheap” thing to do if careful research is involved. Appraisers measure diamond value by the four C’s: carat, clarity, color, and cut. A diamond worth millions like the Hope Diamond, for example, will be enormous (large carat), flawless (clarity), clear or with a rare color (dark blue in this case), and cut perfectly to reflect the most light.

Pick Your Battles

A diamond with all these characteristics will likely cost a fortune, but some characteristics are more important than others. A large carat diamond, for instance, can look pretty ostentatious, especially if the woman wearing it has slender fingers, whereas a smaller diamond of high clarity and color can look amazing, especially when properly cut and placed within a beautiful setting. When it comes to choosing a diamond, then, bigger is not always better.

Even Now, Diamond Rings More Accessible Than Ever

Buying the best bling for the buck has never been easier, as the Internet has enabled many diamond companies to sell their wares at a lower cost when compared to brick and mortar establishments. Finding a reputable broker, however, remains important. Whether obtained from a diamond resale or purchased through a manufacturer, quality brokers will ensure that the diamonds they carry are GIA certified and personally inspected before selling them to their customers. You no longer have to feel guilty about desiring a ring with bling, then, now that the love of your life can find beautiful diamonds at an affordable price.

Do you love the idea of a church wedding? Do you cling to thoughts of brides gone by? Have you been planning your wedding since you were a little girl? If so, you are the traditional bride. Traditional bridal accessories are absolutely the most widely-available in the bridal industry, so you should have no problem bringing your deep traditional roots to the big day. Select wedding accessories that show just how traditional you are. Don’t be tempted to stray away from who you really are as a bride.

Unlike other brides, many of the traditional bride’s accessories may already be in place. For example, you may be wearing your mother or grandmother’s wedding dress. You may be sporting a beautiful veil or pieces of heirloom jewelry passed down from generation to generation. If you don’t have these treasures but still want the look to be very traditional, try looking online and in magazines for ideas. Once you get an idea of what you want, keep these tips and trends as a guide to help you along the way.

Wedding dress choice: Traditional wedding gowns are available everywhere. The most popular traditional silhouette is of course the ball gown. The size of the skirt is up to the bride’s personal taste. With some brides, “the bigger the better” is the way to go. With others, something a bit more subdued will do the trick. A-line wedding gowns with longer trains are also a lovely way to go when trying to achieve the traditional look. Again, the bottom of the dress can vary in size, but in order to keep the look you are going for, opt for something a bit fuller or in a thicker fabric such as satin or silk satin.

Bridal Jewelry: Traditional bridal jewelry is not hard to find. Most traditional brides love the look of plain white or ivory pearls. Simple rhinestones are also a way to go, but you want to keep them to a minimum. Although silver is the most popular metal among bridal jewelry, traditional brides might want to consider gold as well. It gives a feeling of old-world charm and is actually making a comeback.

Bridal headpieces: When you think of tradition, you think of a tiara. The tiara symbolizes the look of the past as well as a royal look. You know a headpiece is a tiara if it has a peak. The peak can be tall or a bit shorter. If your wedding dress has lots of embellishments, you may want to go for a smaller size, so as not to take away from your gown.

For some twisted reason, a lot of people seem to think that women are more pre-occupied with gifts than men are. It’s most probably a sexist view of things, seeing as how men are commonly identified as the wooer rather than the wooed. But obviously, men like presents just as much as women do. Nobody says no to gifts, especially when given by people who matter most to you.

But are men easier to buy gifts for? Again, another sweeping generalization. Not all men are created equal, and what appeals to one won’t appeal to the other. If you think it’s a lot of work, well, it is. Giving the man in your life a gift is not a hassle, though; it’s an opportunity to show him how much you care.

Here are a few gifts to consider. There’s something for every man:

1. A watch. What jewelry is to women, a watch is to men. Since most guys don’t really wear a lot of accessories, a watch tends to be the focal point. Pick out a lovely watch that will go well with his usual fashion style. Note if his usual look is laid-back casual, three-piece suit power dressing, or even surfer dude. Then select a watch that will easily enhance his every day look.

2. An adventure getaway. Take him camping, mountain climbing, bungee jumping, or even skydiving. Make new memories by enjoying exhilarating new adventures together. Of course, do make sure your loved one isn’t afraid of heights before pulling something like this off.

3. Gadgets! Toys for the big boys, as they say, and men simply love messing around with newfangled technology. Get him a tablet, an e-book reader, or even a camera. Just make sure the gadget you select is something he’ll actually be able to use regularly.

4. Grooming kit. He might never admit it, but he definitely needs one. Men need to look good, too, so it’s not too much to indulge a bit of his vanity. Create a grooming kit that includes basic needs like facial cleanser, oil-free moisturizer, shaving cream, and after-shave. This is particularly important if he’s looking to impress his bosses and move up the career ladder.

5. Personalized greeting card for Valentine’s. These days, greeting cards have gone beyond the blasé. You can now design your own cards using an electronic greeting card software. Choose from a number of templates then add your personal message, making it a unique and memorable gesture of love.

Shopping during the holidays can be a wonderful, joyous experience: picking out the perfect gift for each special person in your life, wrapping it and looking forward to the surprise on their face when they open it. Unfortunately, with the economic state that the nation is in right now, many shoppers do not find holiday shopping to be quite such an enjoyable experience. Instead, they are wondering how on Earth they are going to find a way to pay for those gifts.

Even if you are doing okay financially right now, if you have struggled in the past and, as a result, made some payments past their due date, you are likely to have a poor credit rating. If this is the case, then you probably struggle to find credit cards and catalogues that will approve you, out of fear that you will not be able to make your payments on time. A bad credit rating means that many shopping opportunities that were, at one point, available to you, are no longer an option; buy now pay later catalogues are often picky who they will work with.

How To Get Around It

The good news is, shoppers in the UK have a wide variety of catalogues available to them that will allow them to shop despite their bad credit. Basically if you are employed and have a consistent flow of income, you will be approved for a credit account with one of these catalogues. You will have the opportunity to shop for those perfect gifts and buy any must-have items that can’t wait until your credit rating goes up. While you are doing all of this shopping, as long as you make your small increments of payments on time, your credit score will gradually go up, giving you more credibility and proving that you can, in fact, make payments on time and be trusted with a credit account.

Catalogues like Marisota, JD Williams and ISME make holiday shopping as easy as possible for their customers. They offer a wide variety of products, from home decorations to electricals, from lingerie and swimwear to men’s wear and auto parts. During the holidays, catalogues such as these have Christmas sections, including discount toys for children and different gift suggestions for different age groups, genders and styles.

Payment Plans – Helpful?

If you purchase something from one of these catalogues, you will have the opportunity to set up a payment plan so that you can pay in increments over a period of time. The most common minimum payment is about 1/12 of the total cash value of the purchase, and you will be sent a bill every 28 days. Once you establish a consistent payment history with the catalogue, your minimum monthly payment may be reduced, and you’ll start to prove yourself as worthy of credit!

Tyler Jackson is an avid shopper in the UK who does a lot of work with less affluent customers as well as those who have money to burn. He runs a website to compare catalogues across the internet.

Among all the fashion accessories, totes are perhaps the most convenient way to express your personal taste. They come in an incredible array of fabrics, sizes and designs. These handbags change with the tide of fashion to a certain extent, but can generally be carried from season to season.

Unlike clothing, you can wear them even when you gain or lose weight. Like shoes, they tend to accumulate in your closet over the years as souvenirs of various life stages. A tote will always fit, and when cared for properly, will likely last nearly forever.

Totes as a fashion statement

A bold tote is also a great way to add a splash of colour or flair to whatever you’re wearing. Even the tamest outfit can usually stand up to a gorgeous cherry red bag or quirky pattern. If you long to try out a loud animal print but have no desire to look like a walking advert for a fashion trend, a tote may be the best way to experiment.

What to consider when choosing a new tote

Investing in a luxe handbag is also a little less frightening than putting a lot of money into clothing. The detail that goes into crafting a high-quality tote alone makes it worth the money. Heavy-duty stitching, top-notch design and beautifully branded plaques make it clear that attention to detail is top priority with many high-end tote bags.

The wide range of available textiles make expressing your style easy. Luxurious buttery leather, casual nylon and durable coated canvas let you show off different facets of your fashion style. In addition to self-expression, these fabrics adapt to your lifestyle. From work to the weekend, formal to fun, your tote moulds to your busy life.

The tote is an incredibly versatile accessory. Once thought of as a way to haul your gym clothes, it’s now a staple in the closets of the chicest women. Major designers create stunning versions, proudly weaving branded plaques onto the front of their wares.

Totes help busy women manage their lives, with multiple inside pockets and weather-resistant but beautiful exterior fabrics. It’s hard for some to imagine getting through a long day without a large handbag to carry electronic devices, paperwork, cosmetics and the other tools that make balancing work and life a little easier.

Whether you need a bag with multiple compartments or something more simple, you’re sure to find myriad options. From business-friendly to street-smart, designers are paying attention to the demand for a wide variety of tote bag options.

From fashionistas to those who just want a functional yet attractive bag, women from all walks of life express themselves through their favourite tote bags. Couture magazines and street-style blogs alike show photos and adverts of glamourous types and their edgier counterparts sporting attention-getting yet functional handbags.

You don’t have to be wealthy or avant garde to enjoy the form-meets-function versatility of the tote. You can, however, take a cue from your favourite style icons and pick up one of the amazing totes available from a plethora of top designers. You’ll cherish it for decades to come.

Here is a brief low-down on some of London’s most fashionable districts. I’ll discuss where to eat, drink and where to party and what kind of lifestyle each place can offer you.

Knightsbridge

This district is one of London’s most wealthy, bordering on Kensington and Hyde Park you’ll find some of the most beautiful and historic of London’s architecture here. A night out here is going to cost serious cash. The Royal Albert Hall is located in the Heart of Knightsbridge and is London’s most spectacular venue. The stage is frequented by world class performers, and there are usually new acts performing every week. A ticket might set you back somewhere between £60-£100 but it is worth it – after all, the Queen herself has watched shows here!

Nightlife around Knightsbridge is very classy, so put on your finest clothes. Within walking distance from the tube station you can find lots of bars and restaurants -not least the two Michelin pedigree restaurants that can be found at luxury hotel in Knightsbridge – the Berkeley. Most of the hotels in this area have exclusive bars, so it’s worth asking whether your hotel includes this. You can also find Harrods here – London’s most luxurious shopping experience. Have a wonder around the expensive goods and then treat yourself to a glass of bubbly in their champagne bar.

Piccadilly

Piccadilly is the heart of London’s tourist area. You’ll feel the energy and excitement of all those tourists as you wonder through this area. Piccadilly can cater to most budgets and while fast food abounds, explore a little further and you will be able to find high-end drinking and dining establishments. You’ll find lots of great cinemas in this area, as well as fun albeit crowded museums and shows. Piccadilly is also a prime hot spot for theatre – so if you are planning on a West-end show, then head to out, or get your hotel concierge to look into tickets for you. There are plenty of things to choose from here for nightlife, you can visit well known night spots, or perhaps simply a comedy show or the casino.

Notting Hill

Notting Hill is one of London’s more quirky upmarket districts. It’s a little bit further out of the city centre but once you get there it is full of great things to do. Made famous by the film of the same name, Notting Hill has a great market and the famous shopping district of Portobello Road can also be easily reached. On weekends, the streets fill up with people wanting to grab a bargain or find a hidden gem in one of the many antique shops. It is also perfect for the coffee lover – as some of the best coffee outlets in London can be found here – as well as a number of top quality watering holes.

Jonathan often blogs about topics as diverse as luxury hotels in Knightsbridge

Ugg Boots are the epitome of warmth and trendy. They have the ability to comfort your feet while retaining a lightweight fashion. These shoes originated from Australia and the meaning of the name stands for boot. They have been used by residents of Australia before becoming popularizing and entering United States. Now these shoes have become one of the most desirable style for boots.

If you happen to be searching for Uggs there is no doubt you are in for a battle. This trendy shoe leaves the shelves and sell out quickly. The most used and popular Ugg shoe that many individuals purchase is the Button Triplet. The purpose for administrating the distribution of these shoes will ensure that they remain in demand. Purchase your Uggs early or suffer the still laudable consequences of second choice Uggs.

If popular choices and your desired style is not available do not worry. There are a variety of different styles to choose from. These boots will be accessible on first come basis and come in a variety of sizes, lengths, colors, and styles. They will all be able to represent comfort and warmth to the fullest. If you are a male there is an Ugg line for men who wish to partake in the comfort and warmth the shoe offers.

The has also been another Ugg that established its popularity within the boot crowd. This shoe is also known as the Classic Authentic Knit Cardy UGG. The shoe is knitted and the line consists of several styles that are perfect for wearing in snowy conditions. You will also be able to wear them while lounging around comfortably. Most certainly will become your best house slippers.

Of course, there are some specifications to purchasing such a shoe. In many cases, it is highly recommended for an individual to purchase the shoe a size smaller. This is because the shoe tends to stretch after a period of time. There are several different half sizes to choose from also. These shoes are meant to wear without socks. The cushioning of the sheepskin will maintain the fitting. The sheepskin will also keep your feet warm making socks lose their credibility.

If however the conditions are slightly rougher socks are recommended. If you have to obtain socks make sure that high quality socks are worn less they rub against the sheepskin too roughly. The most laudable socks to utilize during moments such as theses are Marcmarcs and Goodhew. Both will maintain the soft interior and quality of the shoes circumference.

The basic concept of purchasing an authentic pair of Uggs is making sure the dealer is authorized. There are several retailers attempting to sell artificial shoes. Signs they are artificial is the low price and the lower aspect of comfort. These shoes tend to make the feet perspire and deteriorates quickly. The logo of the shoe is typically located on the rear exterior end of the shoe.

Now you will be able to purchase these boots in good faith. Maintain them with the Australian Sheepskin Care Kit. Enjoy the benefits of comfort and warmth to the fullest.

After all, it seems to come naturally to so many kids out there in the streets. Since their ages range between ten and thirty, and many of them don’t seem to have any extraordinary fashion sense, it can’t possibly be that hard, can it? Well, indeed, it’s not hard when it comes naturally. When you actually do skate and know all about tricks, loops and halfpipes, you will probably have an easy time figuring out what to wear in order to look like a skater… because you actually are a skater! However, if you’re just a random guy in dire need of a wardrobe update, or a fashion researcher looking into street fashion trends, then you’ve come to the right place. The following article includes tips and tricks, brands to wear, such as items from Only NY Clothing, as well as accessories you will need to complete your look.

Cool Bottoms

Skaters will only wear denim or cargo pants, loose fitting and comfortable. Their legs do most of the work, so they need to get as much room inside the clothing as they need. Brands are not as important here, as is comfort. In summer, opt for a pair of longer shorts that will hit right below the knee, revealing your shins. Cool camouflage prints and neutral colors such as beige, khaki green and grey are highly encouraged, yet classical blue denim will also take care of the job just right.

Skater-ish Tops

The rules here are pretty simple. Since skaters move a lot and need a lot of moving space, comfortable clothing is essential. Therefore, a skater will never ever wear a figure-hugging or otherwise tight t-shirt. Quite the contrary. A skater’s t-shirt needs to be as loose as possible – without looking like it belonged to one’s older brother, however. In terms of colours and prints, solids are always a good safe choice. If you want to play up your sartorial prowess, however, opt for a funky, graffiti-like print, anything that includes or alludes to skulls, and ironic messages in big bold prints. Only NY clothing will usually fit this bill to a tee. In case the weather is not exactly sunny, you will want to wear a hoodie over that t-shirt. Band hoodies are completely out of the question here. An item from a popular skate-shoe brand will most often do the trick. In addition to the shoes, this is one item which can and actually should display the brand name or brand logo, for extra street cred among fellow skaters.

Accessorize!

You might not have guessed it all on your own, if you’re not familiar with the skater community, but accessories are actually essential to completing this look. It’s basically all about the shoes. A bit of research online will reveal the most popular brand names for skater shoes. They are usually wide and feature a special shoelace pattern that does not allow the ends of the laces to be seen. Caps are also often worn by skaters, be they trucker caps or paper boy caps. Prints on caps will either be ironic, graffiti-inspired or will not appear at all. Some professional skaters choose to wear caps that are inscribed with an endorser’s logo, but since we doubt you’re a pro, better steer clear of this. Add a metal chain linking a front pocket with a back pocket and you’re all set and ready to take over the streets in true skater style.

Petite women can follow some fashion styling tips to make themselves appear taller and have a stylish ensemble with petite clothes.

1. Wear straight line pants – Finding the right fit of pants can help form the foundation for your outfit. Stick with pants that a have a straight line from the waist down with a slight flair at the bottom. Boot cut pants also work well on petite figures. Stay away from baggy pants which will look they swallowed you up.

2. Wear a V-neckline – V-necks help elongate a petite frame. Use V-necks for shirts, sweaters and dresses.

3. Hit the knee – Choose dresses or skirts that stop at or around the knee. The exposure of your legs will make you seem taller. Stay away from clothing that stops at the calf, which will have the opposite result of making you appear shorter. This includes Capri pants, dresses and skirts.

4. Try long coats – Wear a long coat to give the impression of a longer frame. A nice trench or winter coat can help finish your look. Stick to neutral colours, such as black, grey or cream so the coat doesn’t seem overwhelming on your frame.

5. Wear vertical lines – Wear shirts, skirts and pants that have vertical lines. This is a common design tip that can help make you appear taller. Pinstripes provide a professional pattern that gives the illusion of a taller frame.

6. Define your waist – Petite clothes are made in a different manner than other women’s clothing to account for the different proportions. However, defining your waist is still important, whether you are tall, short or average height. Large, thick belts are usually not proportional to a petite frame. Use a slim belt around your waist or wear shirts that come with built-in belts.

7. Wear jackets – Jackets help define your shape. Jackets that end above your hips help keep the look proportional. They also help you to appear taller and slender.

8. Wear matching colours – A monochromatic colour scheme works well with petite clothing. Different shades of the same colour can come together to form a cohesive look. For example, pair sky blue, navy blue and baby blue together. Another option is to use grey, slate and black in combination.

9. Stay away from large patterns – Large patterns can easily overwhelm a small frame. Instead, opt for smaller patterns or solid coloured pieces.

10. Visit a tailor – Tailors can help clothing seem custom fit for an individual. Some clothes may fit a petite woman perfectly in one location, such as her bust or hips, but the rest of the garment may need to be tucked in. Find a garment that fits your largest area best and let the tailor fit the rest of the garment to your body.

The looks that you will be sporting this winter have been on the catwalk since summer. Here are some of the top fashion trends you can expect.

The Masculine Look

First of all, this winter it’s good to be androgynous. Men are wearing more feminine looks while women are going more masculine at least in their dress. That means masculine looking jackets and trousers as well as hats and boots. But don’t think that means that women have to go for boring black and grey this winter. On the contrary, if you believe what the designers have been showing, it’s time to go for color this winter. Many of the catwalk looks sported bold, bright, in your face color with electric blues, bright yellow and even a range of pastels.

Fetishes in Fashion

Another look is very much in style borrows from fetish fashion. It’s time for doms with a difference with boots, neck bands and hats, not to mention high shoulders. This season is also the time to mix and match different looks. Throw out the rulebook and mix fur (faux, of course) with silk, plastic with wool and sequins and leather. When it comes to fur, the more the better and it might be paired with feathers too. Anything goes, just as long as you’re fashionable. Which brings us to the next trend: an elegant look that hasn’t been seen since the 1940s. Now is the time to browse around the charity shops and retro clothing stores outfit yourself at a fraction of the cost of designer looks.

If you’re not going retro, then maybe the trend for lots of pattern will suit your own personal style. Lots of the designers have created flowing creations with swirls, polka dots and more. Also this winter, skirts are longer or mid-length (but never short) and frills and furbelows are very much in.

Outerwear and Footwear

What would winter be without sweaters, coats and lots of layers? These get a modern new twist in the current fashion designs. There’s a coat to suit every style together with a chunky sweater to wear under it.

Finally, what about footwear? You’ll be glad to hear that this is just as diverse. Patent leather, reptile skins, laces, platform shoes and chunky heels are all in style. This year they are accompanied by an everyday item given new life – socks.

If you just landed your first job or you are about to start an internship or placement then you may be worried about what to wear. Often those new to the job market don’t have a full working wardrobe or the range of fashionable items that you see on the catwalk. While they wait for that first pay check they have to work out how to get by. Here are a few wardrobe essentials that will help you to bridge the gap.

Winter work wear

You can’t go wrong with basic black or grey, especially in winter. Your only issue is which item of clothing should be that color. Why not all of them? A pair of black trousers or a long woolen skirt can be the basis of your working wardrobe. Top that off with a matching jacket and you’ll be fine for the next couple of weeks.

Ideally, you should be able to mix and match so if your budget can stretch get a couple of items for the top (two different but matchable jackets) and a few for the bottom (perhaps a skirt and a pair of trousers). The only issue you have to solve then is what to wear in between. For winter this could be a shirt and pullover or a blouse with a cardigan or sweater jacket. The trick with these items is to stick to a few shades so that you can get several outfits with just a few items. To round out your outfit you need some footwear. At the very least, a pair of boots for the colder days and a regular pair of shoes for the rest of the time.

How many items do you actually need? Some fashion gurus recommend 12. This would include two jackets, three pairs of trousers or skirts, four tops, a dress and a couple of sweaters. You’ll be able to get a number of combos with just these.

Summer work wear

If you’re starting your job in summer the essentials are the same though you will probably want to inject some color. Use the same principles of getting items that work well together. You can swap long skirts for shorter ones and perhaps replace one of the jackets. It’s always a good idea to have at least one in case you’re working somewhere with fierce air-conditioning. If you want to be fashionable but not break the bank then spend your budget on accessories in the latest styles and colors. Scarves, belts and shoes will help you feel and look trendy while keeping a basic wardrobe that you can wear all year round.
