Tips For Holiday Shopping

Shopping during the holidays can be a wonderful, joyous experience: picking out the perfect gift for each special person in your life, wrapping it and looking forward to the surprise on their face when they open it.  Unfortunately, with the economic state that the nation is in right now, many shoppers do not find holiday shopping to be quite such an enjoyable experience.  Instead, they are wondering how on Earth they are going to find a way to pay for those gifts.

Even if you are doing okay financially right now, if you have struggled in the past and, as a result, made some payments past their due date, you are likely to have a poor credit rating.  If this is the case, then you probably struggle to find credit cards and catalogues that will approve you, out of fear that you will not be able to make your payments on time.  A bad credit rating means that many shopping opportunities that were, at one point, available to you, are no longer an option; buy now pay later catalogues are often picky who they will work with.

How To Get Around It

The good news is, shoppers in the UK have a wide variety of catalogues available to them that will allow them to shop despite their bad credit.  Basically if you are employed and have a consistent flow of income, you will be approved for a credit account with one of these catalogues.  You will have the opportunity to shop for those perfect gifts and buy any must-have items that can’t wait until your credit rating goes up.  While you are doing all of this shopping, as long as you make your small increments of payments on time, your credit score will gradually go up, giving you more credibility and proving that you can, in fact, make payments on time and be trusted with a credit account.

Catalogues like Marisota, JD Williams and ISME make holiday shopping as easy as possible for their customers.  They offer a wide variety of products, from home decorations to electricals, from lingerie and swimwear to men’s wear and auto parts.  During the holidays, catalogues such as these have Christmas sections, including discount toys for children and different gift suggestions for different age groups, genders and styles.

Payment Plans – Helpful?

If you purchase something from one of these catalogues, you will have the opportunity to set up a payment plan so that you can pay in increments over a period of time.  The most common minimum payment is about 1/12 of the total cash value of the purchase, and you will be sent a bill every 28 days.  Once you establish a consistent payment history with the catalogue, your minimum monthly payment may be reduced, and you’ll start to prove yourself as worthy of credit!
