Tis The Season To Give Back and To Be Merry!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Vitamin Angels for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

We all the love the holiday season!  Tis the time of giving!  This time of year is truly amazing in how it brings families together and everyone seems to be in a warm and festive mood.  This is the time of year to gather around the fireplace, heat up some hot cocoa and tell stories around the fire with family and friends.  Truly a heartwarming time of the year like the holidays brings joy and happiness to many.

When I was younger, I loved waking up on Christmas morning and opening presents and having a huge breakfast with m close family and friends.  It was always my favorite holiday as a child, and looking back I do miss the time with family and being able to catch up on old times.  As we grow older, sometimes people move and situations change, but to this day I still believe it is the best time of the year.

So being that is that time of year again, I am more than excited to share with you the wonderful work and hearts over at Vitamin Angels, an organization dedicated to helping at-risk populations in need, specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five who need lifesaving vitamins and minerals.  Their mission is to reduce the number of chilfren globally with vitamin and mineral deficiencies and they have local field partners in nearly 45 countries in order to accomplish that mission.  They accomplish this through advocacy for the issue, passing legislation, as well as creating the infastructure for locally sustainable micronutrient supply and distribution systems.

There are millions of children around the world, right now that are suffering from “hidden hunger”, which is essentially the lack of micronutrients in the human body. This can lead to disease, and in way too many cases, even death.  These children deserve a fighting chance and should be entitled to the proper nutrition to not only live, but to have a chance at life!  One startling statistic that I came across on the Vitamin Angels website was this:

  • An estimated 190 million children under the age of five suffer from vitamin A deficiency, which can lead to weakened immune systems, childhood blindness, and even death.

Vitamin A Saves Lives, and so can you!Va_take_3

By providing one dose of vitamin A, twice a year, as little as 25 cents reduces mortality in at-risk children by up to 24%. Vitamin A supplements are the least expensive solution to addressing preventable child deaths.  Believe it or not, even the smallest gift can change a child’s life. Your 25 cents will bring lifesaving vitamin A to a child in need.

If you cannot donate a gift for whatever reason you can still donate to Vitamin Angels in honor of an individual. This provides a gift that lasts beyond the holidays and creates a legacy of giving. Individuals make a donation and receive a downloadable or shareable card that shows their donation to Vitamin Angels.

So what are you waiting for?  Get involved. Donate now.
