Taking your workout indoors for winter

Its official, Halloween in behind us and the cold weather is here to stay. With the holidays rapidly approaching it may seem that you have no choice but to kiss your diet and exercise regimen goodbye but just because you can’t hit the payment doesn’t mean you can’t keep fit this winter. Here are a few ways you can bring your workout inside for the coming months.

Join a Gym

Virtually every neighborhood has at least one gym where you can pay a monthly fee to use exercise equipment and take fitness classes. Whether you are looking for a personal trainer or just the use of a treadmill, joining a gym gets you out of the house and surrounds you with equally motivated and active people which will help you from getting discouraged as the winter months wear on.

Take a Dance Class

If you find traditional fitness programs boring consider enrolling in a dance class. From hip hop to salsa, dancing a few times a week will get your heart rate up and your adrenaline pumping. Dance classes are also a great place to socialize and meet people with similar interest.

Start a home fitness routine

With so many DVD’s available online it is easy to find a workout that will keep you active right in your own living room. From interval training to Zumba there are videos for every taste and price range. Pilates and yoga also make great home workouts as long as you have a little floor space.

Try a new sport

Your workout doesn’t have to go inside when the snow starts to fall; there are tons of fun winter sports that will keep you fit without feeling like exercise. Ice skating, snowboarding, snow shoeing and cross-country skiing all burn a ton of calories and can be enjoyed by the whole family. Just be sure to bundle up before heading outside.
