There's No Place Like Brazil

Brazil is known as one of the most culturally diverse and exotic nations in the entire world. This country is filled with some of the most beautiful people, interesting cuisine, breathtaking sceneries, and striking architecture—making it one must-see destination.

If you find yourself in Brazil, these are some of the places you absolutely must visit:

Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro

There is more to this southern region than “The Girl from Ipanema”. This beach neighborhood is vibrant in culture; complete with a wide stretch of beautiful white sand and huge blue waves. Spend the day here, and you’ll see why Travel Channel refers to Ipanema as the sexiest beach in the entire world.

Lapa, Rio de Janeiro

The Lapa neighborhood is another of Brazil’s cultural hotspots. Here, the arts community continues to grow, and people flock to Lapa to experience their booming nightlife. Saturdays are especially alive in Lapa, as a weekly streetparty is held for both locals and tourists. Should you wish to see the sights, you can visit the Arco de Lapa, which is a series of aqueducts assembled in the 1700s. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio is also an interesting landmark, a concrete cone stretching 80 meters into the air.

Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro

The Corcovado Mountain raises high above the bay, with the famous Christ the Redeemer at its peak. This open-armed statue is a famous point of pilgrimage for Christians all throughout the world. Weddings and other religious celebrations are held here on a daily basis. The view of Rio from the Corcovado Mountain is truly incomparable.

Iguazu Falls

Both Argentina and Brazil share a national border, which also happens to be a stunning section of water. The Iguazu Falls are massively wide and are of the fastest rate in the world, ousting 12,000 cubic meters of water every second. These falls are made up of over 250 different waterfalls, with islands and terraces in between them. A visit to the Iguazu Falls will allow you to stand at a central point, surrounding you by waterfalls in 260 degrees. Truly, there are few sights more majestic than that of these falls.

Oscar Niemeyer’s Architecture

Oscar Niemeyer is one of the greatest—if not the greatest—architects from Brazil. This man created a number of Brazil’s most essential government buildings, museums and landmarks from Rio to Brasilia. Keep your eyes open for Niemeyer’s works of art, such as the Palacio de Alvorada, the Surpreme Court, the National Congress Building, the Ministry of Justice, the National Theater and the National Library. His buildings can be found in almost all major cities in Brazil.

Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais

Ouro Preto is located in a mining town full of wonderful cultural history. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its captivating early Baroque architecture, and is home to a number of respected museums, spectacular churches and tour-friendly mines.

Brazil is full of marvelous places to visit and the abovementioned are just a small fraction of the sights that one should see when traveling around Brazil.
