With the beautiful weather we have been experiencing this year everyone is looking forward to summer vacation. Some are already planning trips, taking time off of work, etc. The key to having a great vacation is to plan ahead. Figure out that dates for when you’ll be traveling, how long you’ll be staying, and whether or not you will be staying in a hotel or with family/friends.
Of course, everyone loves to stay on a beach, but what about all of the other locations out there? Below are five different types of United States vacation spots, including family friendly places, romantic get-a-ways, and places to spend time alone.
Chicago, IL
Not only does the windy city host festivals such as Lollapalooza and Taste of Chicago, it also possesses many other attractions like the Millennium Park and the Art Institute. Chicago offers places for families, as well as couples. Places like the Willis Tower, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium, and many other museums make for fun-filled days. As for the nightlife, downtown Chicago offers a number of different pubs, bars, and restaurants that are like none other. Conveniently, Chicago also offers a large amount of public transportation so that getting around is not a problem.
New York City, NY
A concrete jungle, New York has a number of cities that offer a unique experience. New York is wild and crazy, full of excitement, history and fun. Some of the top places to visit are Broadway, the Bronx Zoo, and the Empire State Building. For kids, visit the Statue of Liberty for a quick history lesson or take them to a game at Yankee Stadium. The five boroughs offer an eye opening experience to the different cultures you will find. With the food, shopping, site seeing and nightlife that New York puts in front of you, you cannot go wrong.
Orlando, FL
The sunshine state is also home to the one and only, Disney World. Disney is one of the best experiences the US offers for children. The Magic Kingdom and the water parks are more fun than a child could imagine. Downtown Orlando offers shopping, dining, arts and theater, and sports. For adults, Downtown Orlando is a great place to go. Bars, clubs, and lounges are all apart of the great nightlife found here.
US Virgin Islands
This is the beach get-a-way of them all. All of the islands offer a large number of activities. From the beaches to the casinos to the historical sites and museums, there will never be a boring moment in your stay. Go mountain climbing, relax on the beach, fine dine or take the kids to the Magic Ice Gallery. A trip to the Virgin Islands will be a vacation of a lifetime.
Yellowstone National Park, WY
As America’s first national park, Yellowstone National Park is home to grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk. Not only does the park offer history and culture, the nature and science found there are amazing. Kids love this place and it is perfect for the outdoorsy people. Experiencing the wild life and outdoors would make this a perfect vacation spot.
Of course, these aren’t the only US vacation spots and cities. These are just a few that seem to be perfect for couples and families. As mentioned before, planning ahead for a summer vacation, or any vacation, is key to having a perfect trip.
